History talk :)

Yesetrday we got a talk about the history of Celbridge from my old primary school principal, Mr. Doohan- whatta man! <3
He wrote a book on the history of celbridge and was in the school to talk to us about it. Most of the stuff he was talking about we already learned in 6th class because he brought us on a tour around celbridge. It was still very interesting though. You always forget how much history is attached to Celbridge so it was nice to listen to:) I find the history behind castletown house, the main street and the mill really interesting.
I would definitley reccommend his book it's 12 euro and on sale now!

Juno and the Paycock:)

Yesterday was great fun:) All TY's went into town for the day to the WB Yeats exibition, the national muesum and libraray and to the Abbey theathre to see a production of the play we read ' Juno and the Paycock'. The bog bodies we saw in the national muesum were really interesting, they were bodies from thousands of years ago perserved in the bog. It was really weird and horrible to see most of their features still there.. one of the bodies even had a tooth! .. lovely-.-
The Wb Yeats muesum was real good aswell, we had to fill out a sheet and i learned alot from it.
Then we went to MACDONALDS!:D It was soo good because everyone was so hungry!
Me, Sarah, Emily , Aoibheann and Sally then went upto Stephans Green to get a shakeaway :D it was so goood, oreos mmmm. After that we went to see Juno and the Paycock:D It was actually much better than I thought it would be! I personally LOVED johnny boyle in it:O Ronan Raftery.. im not a stalker at all...
hahaha. Awh im in love, whatta hunk!
Overall I really enjoyed the day:) Thanks to all the english teachers who organised the trip, Ms Cosgrove, Ms Brogan and Ms Guilfoyle:D

Educating Essex

Over the last week in religion with Mrs L we have been watching a reality tv show called 'Educating Essex'. The show revolves around a school in Essex and the seriousness that bulluying can lead to.
It followes up on diferent teenagers and the situations they are faced with in school.
One girl who was head girl of her year was receiving threatning horrible text messages from an unknown number. They included texts saying that the person was able to see her and could see her sleeping. Gabby, the victim was very scared and upset and got the principal to investigate the situation. He tracked down the number and rang the people saying that he was aware of what was happening and he knows he they are. I turns out in the end the people behind the text messages were friends of Gabbys. They had gotten into a fight over her getting head girl and were pulling a "harmless prank". They discovered they would get a criminal record and could easily be reported to the police. This was a great example of how serious this was and how a "joke" can lead to so much more than it actually is..
There was also another boy called Sam who was being accused of bullying a boy called Dean. Deans mother and sister were called in to the principle and there was serious consequences for Sam. They all talked it over and they realise there was no need for the bulluying that was going on. The bully ,Sam had come to his senses.
Overall this programe really made me think about how others may feel in a certain situation and how serious bullying of any kind wheter it is verbal, physical or emotional really is. Thanks Mrs. L!

Abso Errr'bodyyyy

Last Friday was the FUN WALK:D Our class Fodla put in our blood, sweat and tears into our dance routine to 'Absalutely Everybody' and the classic "Eveybody dance now"! Our tutor Ms OC' even took us out of class to practice for this.. competitive? I think not....
Our colour for TY this year was yellow , so we all wore yellow tops and made a yellow mini (which was the same car as kaza ironically..) We came out to the judges in our yellow mini and then burst out in to Absalutely everybody:D It was a great buzz altogether and we had so much fun, we even added in really cool stunts at the end , which included girls in our class being thrown up in the air and standing on us and falling back , while swinging... fairplay on that one aifric btw!<3 hehe
So it was all fun and games.. until monday morning when Ms.Smyth announced the winners for each year.. "and the winner is.. BANBA!" Us Fodlaians were abso devasted. But congrats to banba, well deserved guys, everyone did great:D afterall it's the FUN walk:)

Mini Company Stress

Last Thursday all TY's went to Naas for the first or our three mini company workshops:) My group hadent setteled on an idea, so the pressure was on to come up with a brilliant product to sell as we need to start getting a move on..
The workshop itself was really good, and was very interesting. I learned alot about the mini company competition and all that is involved in it. We then came up with an idea for lights for your door, so you can see where the keyhole is when its dark. We all like this idea and our doing extensive market research on the product and have discovered that it has great potential so its definitley a possibilty:D
We elected positions for our mini company.. I am the financial manager and I will have to manage the companys money and prepare accounts for us.. hopefully I can do them! ah well the group seems to have faith in me so we'll see how it goes..:L
I will keep all you bloggers out there updated anyway;)

Thats all from me,
Rebekah:) xoxo
